The unregenerated spirit of man versus the regenerated spirit of man the regenerated
man and
the lord
are one
spirit (1 CO 6:17)
(1) WHY must an ungodly, or unregenerated person,
be born anew, from above, and be regenerated within their spirits?
(a) Because man is a FALLEN spirit, and a fallen
spirit needs to be regenerated, permeated, re-created anew, diffused through
and through with Divine Life (JN 3:3, 5; 2 CO 5:17; RO 6:3, 6, 7-14a; COL 3:1-2).
(b) First, let us differentiate between a sinner
and an ungodly person.
(1) A sinner is one who
has, at one time, been regenerated within their spirit, but has fallen away
from the faith (2 TH 2:3; MT 24:10
kj; HE 3:12-4:2; GA 5:4; 2 PE 2:20-22; HE 10:26-29), being backslidden, and one who continues to violate
righteousness and holiness principles (HE 12:14 kj; 6:4-6; MT 7:21-23; 8:12;
13:38; 24:51; PS 1:5; 104:35a; PR 1:10; 13:21; 23:17; IS 1:28; 13:9; 33:14a; AM
9:10).
(2) An ungodly person is one who has never been
regenerated, but is wholly filled, permeated, with death and darkness within
their spirit, soul and body.
The unregenerated man and Satan
are one spirit (EP 2:1-2)
(1) Satan was created as a spirit that he might
have direct communion with God.
But he fell away
from his righteous place and became the head of the powers of darkness (LU 10:18).
(a) He, and all beings who are of him, are now
SEPARATED from light and every Godly virtue.
(1) This does not signify that Satan is non-existent.
His fall only took away his right relationship with God.
(2) Similarly, man, in his fall, also sank into
Satan’s CO-EQUAL darkness and separation from God (EP 2:1-9).
(2) Just as Satan is a fallen spirit, so is man a
fallen spirit. Their spirit nature is identical, spiritually speaking.
Unregenerated man’s spirit is dead.
(a) Unregenerated man’s spirit still exists, but
it too is separated from God, powerless to commune with Him, rendering him
incapable of ruling his spirit (PR 25:28).
(1) Spiritually speaking, unregenerated man’s
spirit is dead, having eternal death within it.
(3) No religion of this world, no ethics, culture
or law, can improve fallen man’s spirit.
(a) Man’s fall caused him to fall to an eternal,
degenerated, death-state, and nothing originating from himself (his soul-life)
can return him to an eternal, living-state.
(b) Wherefore, regeneration, of the eternally
dead-living-spirit of man, is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY (JN 15:4-5).
(4) When the ungodly person is drawn by the Holy
Spirit to Jesus Christ (JN 6:44, 65), making him or her spiritually (intuitively conscious) aware of his or
her need, convicting them of the necessity of being saved, or being born again,
regenerated, from being an ungodly and sinful person, then they ALSO must WILFULLY
CO-OPERATE with the Holy Spirit’s conviction within their heart and mind. They
then, in reality, COME DIRECTLY TO JESUS. THEN, and ONLY THEN, can the Holy
Spirit MIRACULOUSLY regenerate their spirit with God’s Eternal Life (JN 16:7-10; 1 JN
5:20; 2 CO 5:17). SALVATION, REGENERATION, CAN NOT BE OBTAINED AT
MAN’S
WHIMS OR
HISCHOSEN
TIME (GE 6:3; ECC 3:1-2ab)
(1) God chooses His time to deal with ungodly or
sinful man, and for some of them, it may be only one time, while for others, it
may be several times over several years. But there is a time when He stops
forever, never dealing with that person again (GE 6:3a; IS 16:14; PS 51:11; HE 6:4-6; 2 PE
2:20-21; HE 10:26-29).
(a) Even then, NOTHING is done by God without the MANIFESTED WORKINGS (JN 15:16; RO 11:36), of the Holy Spirit, DRAWING (JN 6:44, 65bc) and CONVICTING (JN 16:8); or of REFUSING TO WORK (1 JN 5:16; MK 3:28-29).
(b) The Holy Spirit’s MIRACLE WORKINGS BEGIN ONLY
at His CHOICE and TIME, and WITHOUT EXCEPTION, when the ungodly person willfully,
with his or her HEART and MIND, acknowledges his or her sinfulness, openly,
publicly and verbally to Jesus Christ (MT
18:3-4; RO
10:9-10; MT 10:32-33).
(1) The scripture in (1), above (GE 6:3a), was to Adam, and fulfilled in him by giving
him 120 more years of mercy and grace before he was to be cut off. This
prophecy was given to Adam when he was
810 years old, since the fall. If Adam repented in that 120 years, it is not
revealed in the scriptures.
(c) Once becoming born again, regenerated, the
person is now a believer, a Christian.
(2) Without exception, the work of God begins with
the Holy Spirit convicting the heart of man (RO 10:10; JN 16:8), then with the person’s own co-operation with
Him, in coming to Jesus, confessing his or her sinfulness (not so much sins,
but acknowledging they are a sinner), then the believer’s inner man (the human
spirit) IS MIRACULOUSLY RE-CREATED RIGHTEOUS, even as Jesus is righteous (EZK
36:26; JN 3:6; 1 JN 4:17d).
(a) Satan
works just the extreme opposite, from the outside inwardly to the heart,
defiling the spirit (2 CO 7:1; 1 CO 5:5).
(b) From the point of the new birth, man’s
initiative is PERPETUALLY REQUIRED to DAILY, HABITUALLY read, study and listen
to the Word; to DAILY, HABITUALLY pray until he or she touches God’s ANOINTING
EXPERIENTIALLY; finally, then DOING the WORD, DAILY and HABITUALLY MIXING it
with FAITH (JA 1:22; 2:14, 17, 20, 24; HE 4:1-2; 2 PE 1:3-11).
(3) This
NEW LIFE of a born again spirit belongs to God (1 PE 1:4), and it CAN NOT SIN (1 JN 3:9); but our spirit, though quickened, may be defiled by a believer’s soul’s
RULING STRENGTHS, continuing in rebellion to the demands of the Holy Spirit’s
obedience to the Word and Spirit (2 CO 7:1; RO
13:14).
(a) When God’s Life, which can equally be called
His Spirit, INCARNATES the human spirit, the spirit IS QUICKENED, MADE
ETERNALLY ALIVE out of its eternally comatic, death-state or nature (EP 4:18; 2:1, 12;
RO 1:21-22, 24-26; AC 17:30-31; 2 CO 5:10).
(4) What we are given in the first Adam is “A
SPIRIT MADE ETERNALLY DEAD and DAMNED to hell”; what we receive in Christ
Jesus, at regeneration, is “both the DEAD SPIRIT QUICKENED (EZK 36:26; JN
3:6), and the NEW SPIRIT of
God’s Life;” the latter, something that Adam never had even before the fall.
(a) Eternal Life, within a human spirit, means
more than mere future blessings to be enjoyed by believers; but the latter is
“EQUALLY” God’s spiritual character, power and authority to live present-life
as He presently lives it (HE 11:1; JN 10:10b; 1 JN 4:17d).
(5) God’s aim, in
regenerated man, is for that man, by his spirit, IN UNION WITH Jesus and the
Holy Spirit (1 CO 6:17), to rid
himself (his soul [mind] and physical life) (RO l2:1-2; 8:5-8 amp) from everything belonging to the Old
Creation, and become the COMPLETED FULLNESS of Jesus (EP 4:15, 13; 3:9; COL
1:15-19; 2:9-10a), within his living lifetime (JN 6:48-58; 8:45, 51-52, 32, 36;
11:21-26; RO 8:11; RE 2:11).
(a) When God’s Life (which can equally be called His Spirit) enters, or incarnates, our human spirit, it is QUICKENED, RE-CREATED, REGENERATED, made ETERNALLY ALIVE with God’s Life (2 CO 5:17).
(1) What was alienated from the Life of God (EP 4:18) is now made eternally alive with God’s Life
again.
(6) Regeneration comes only to those who believe
from their hearts (RO 10:10; EZK 36:26-27).
(a) Note:
Immediately after the clause, “A new spirit I will put within you,” follows
this one of, “I will put My Spirit within you.”
(1) The first statement signifies a newly created
spirit, through the regenerating of the dead spirit, and incarnating Jesus and
His Life.
(2) The second statement signifies the indwelling
of an additional Spirit Being (the Holy Spirit) within that renewed spirit.
(b) It is vital that you understand here: Jesus
Christ, and His life, is one person incarnate within the regenerated spirit,
and the Holy Spirit is another Spirit Being, indwelling the regenerated Spirit.
(1) Saying it another way: The Holy Spirit gives YOU Jesus Christ, once He comes in. He then wants you to receive the person of the Holy Spirit (JN 20:22cd; AC 1:4; LU 24:49; AC 1:5, 8; 2:1-4, 33; 4:8, 31; 6:3, 5; 9:17; 13:9, 52; 7:55; 8:14-17, 11:15; 19:2-6; MT 10:20; MK 16:17-20).
(7) It
is vital to understand: Receiving the Person of Jesus Christ is receiving one
person of the Godhead, with one spiritual experience (JN 1:12), while receiving the person of the Holy Spirit
is receiving another person (a Spirit Being), which is a second spiritual
experience.
(a) This could happen simultaneously or years
apart.
(b) It is not the Holy Spirit who saves, BUT IT IS
JESUS who saves. It is the Holy Spirit who teaches and empowers and guides from
the Father, through Jesus (JN 14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:13-15; AC 1:8), once He indwells your spirit, the inner man,
in ADDITION to Jesus Christ and His life.
(8) To understand the Godhead, the Trinity, the
Incarnation and the Creation of Angels, see the study manual entitled “Made
Like Unto The Son of God.”
(a) What we inherited from Adam was a spirit made dead, but what we receive from Christ Jesus, at regeneration, is both a dead spirit made alive with God’s Life, but in addition, we receive the incarnation of God’s Spirit (an additional Being) at the infilling of the Holy Spirit (JN 14:17; AC 2:4; 8:14-17; 19:2-6).
(1)
When born
again, re-created, regenerated, made alive through the incoming of God’s Life,
which resides in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is the third member of the
Godhead Who does the work of regenerating (RO 6:3-16).
The work of the
cross gave the holy spirit miracle power to regenerate man’s spirit
(a) The Holy Spirit prepares human hearts to
believe (RO 10:10), convicts them
of sin (JN
16:8), and IMPARTS FAITH (HE 12:2a) to be born again, regenerated, re-created (EP 2:8).
(2) The work of the Cross has been fulfilled by Jesus
Christ, but it is left to the working of the Holy Spirit to apply this finished
work of Jesus, at the Cross, to the ungodly persons’ or sinners’ hearts and
minds (RO
10:10).
(a) The Cross established the provision of God in
Christ Jesus, while the Holy Spirit works that provision within believing man’s
heart and spirit.
(b) The Cross accomplished everything needed for
Eternal Life, but it is the Holy Spirit who administers that provision to the
need.
(c) The Cross grants us a position in Christ Jesus, but the Holy Spirit gives us the experience of His Life and person incarnating our spirit’s (COL 1:27-29).
Principals of the cross in relationship to experiencing its
provision
(1) The work of the Holy Spirit is to reveal to
the ungodly and to sinners what the Cross has achieved, so that they may, in
fact, respond and receive its provision, because of grace and being saved by
faith (EP
2:8).
(a) The Holy Spirit never functions independently
of the Cross or of Christ Jesus (JN 16:13-15).
(b) Without
the Cross, the Holy Spirit has no grounds from which He can work, therefore,
without the Holy Spirit’s MANIFESTING ACTION, the Cross remains dead or
ineffectual, that is, unless the Holy Spirit works then there is no
REGENERATING EFFECT within man’s spirit, even though it is effective before
God.
(c) While it was Jesus at the Cross, providing the
ENTIRETY of the provision of salvation, it is the Holy Spirit Who DIRECTLY
INCARNATES Jesus and His Life and the substance of faith (HE 11:1), from all the promises (2 PE 1:3-4), to man’s unregenerated spirit, giving it
God’s Life (JN 3:38).
(2) The Holy Spirit is none other than the
Father’s EXECUTOR, INCARNATOR and IMPREGNATOR of Jesus Christ, and His Life,
WITHIN the dead spirit of the ungodly person, when he believes from his heart
and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord (RO 10:10).
(3) From then on, whatever man knows about God and
His Word (JN 1:1-3; 2 PE 1:3-4), which
is His Son with His Life, that comes to their minds through their outside
physical senses, then their soul and body still continue to experience
progressive death (RO 12:1-2; 8:5-8 amp, 16).
(a) If their believing increases their soul’s
learned knowledge (2 TI 3:7), without the
CONTINUED WORKINGS of the ANOINTING of the Holy Spirit within, from the inside,
their inner man, their spirit and it’s senses (1 JN 2:27), all their knowledge still presently propagates physical death both in the
soul and body (RO 8:5-8 amp).
Understand the Holy
Spirit’s work versus his indwelling
(1) We
need to understand the relationship between regeneration and the incoming or
indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
(a) Again, the Holy Spirit imparts and incarnates
Jesus Christ and His Life to the dead human spirit, regenerating it with God’s
Life.
(1) Unless a newly re-created, regenerated Spirit,
with Jesus Christ within it, is made available to the Holy Spirit, He will not
come in automatically, for He must be desired or asked to come in, just like
one who believes on Jesus asks Him to come in (JN
14:17e).
(2) How essential regeneration is. Without that
work done first, the Holy Spirit cannot find a place to abide or dwell.
(a) Multitudes who become born again, having
received Jesus Christ, DO NOT KNOW RECEIVING the Holy Spirit is receiving AN
ADDITIONAL PERSON of the Godhead, and is AN ADDITIONAL spiritual experience (AC 8:14-17;
19:2-6).
(b) There is much controversy of doctrine about
the receiving of Jesus as Saviour, and the receiving of the Holy Spirit as
empowerer, as being TWO different experiences.
(1) This is symptomatic evidence of their soul-man
reigning supreme over their spirit (1 CO 2:14), NOT EXPERIENTIALLY dividing them, whereby the ANOINTING is their SUPREME
TEACHER (1 JN 2:27, 20 kj; JN 14:26; 16:13).
(2) It is very possible that their soul-man is
TRAPPED in UNPERCEIVED BLINDNESS and DECEPTION (2 CO 4:3-4).
(3) This
sad state reflects either the foolishness, or the dereliction to soundness of
their Leader’s teachings, or to their own personal faithlessness (2 TH 2:10-11).
(4) The promise of the Holy Spirit INDWELLING us (LU 24:49; AC 1:4;
2:1-4) is just preparing the
groundwork for our desire and hunger for His indwelling (AC 1:8) at the same moment of, or after,
regeneration.
(a) The SINGULAR GLORY of this INDWELLING is to manifest the Father and the Son (JN 14:9e, 21, 23; 16:13-15).
(b) Many simply experience the new birth (salvation), but never go on to experience the Holy Spirit’s empowerment and charismatic giftings (AC 1:8; 1 CO 12:1-11 kj).
(1) Then Jesus prophesied, “That at the end, the
coming of the Bridegroom, half of all those who had received the oil of the
Holy Spirit (His empowerment), had carelessly allow their lamps to go out.” (MT 25:5-12; PR
20:27; RE 3:15-19)
(5) It is an IMMUTABLE FACT, once regenerated,
their spirit has become a fit temple for the INDWELLING HABITATION of the Holy
Spirit (AC
1:8; 2:1-4).
(a) If newly born, regenerated believers should BE
CONTENT only with possessing a new spirit, they AUTOMATICALLY FORFEIT the Holy
Spirit’s indwelling, empowering, teaching, and leadership (AC 1:8; 1 JN
2:27; JN
14:26; 16:13).
(b) It is interesting to note that the MAN Jesus (1 TI 2:5), who at His physical birth was legally the Son
of God, technically was not received by the Father, as the Son, until the Day
of His water baptism and the Holy Spirit descending upon Him, and His RECEIVING
Him (HE
5:6cd; LU
3:21-23).
(6) It is also interesting to note, on the Day of
His physical birth, He had an UNFALLEN human spirit (being the second or last
Adam - (1
CO 15:45)), lived perfectly
righteous for thirty years, without the indwelling Holy Spirit, then, at His
water baptism (LU 3:21), also which was
the Day of His Adoption (LU
3:23ab), He then received
the Holy Spirit (LU 3:22) and was now
accepted as the Son (HE 5:5cd), and was
empowered to be the Son of God (LU 2:12ab, 13-22).
(a) I want you to note: Jesus’ Life, before His
adoption and water baptism, showed that a man can live righteously, without the
Holy Spirit’s indwelling (LU 2:40-52), but are not FULLY empowered until their adoption time (LU 3:22-23; JN
3:34; RO 8:2; EP 1:13e-14a), or
when the Holy spirit comes upon them (LU 3:22; 4:1, 14; LU 24:49; AC 1:4, 8; 2:1,
4-11, 22-23).
(7) When God’s Life (which can equally be called
His Spirit) enters the human spirit, the latter is QUICKENED and MADE ALIVE out
of, or from, its comatic death or eternally damned nature (EP 4:18-19).
(a) In the Bible, God’s Life is often labeled
Eternal Life. Life here is “ZOE”, pronounced “Dzo-ay,” in the Greek, meaning,
“immutable, unchangeable, imperishable, everlasting life; immortal, unending,
irremovable life, alienated from the consequences of the fall; theophysical
life given in the present tense; immortal substance as the Son presently has
it.” (JN
10:10d)
(1) The VICARIOUS PROVISION of the Cross was three-fold;
(a) He took our
sins that we might become His righteousness (2 CO 5:21); (b) He took our infirmities and diseases, that we
should not be physically sick (MT 8:17);
© He tasted death for every man that he should not have to see or experience
death (HE 2:9).
(b) Because of heart and mind blindness and
deception, most of the Body of Christ does not believe (1c) above (2 CO 4:3-4; 1 CO
2:14; HE 3:19; 4:1-2; 11:13, 39).
(1) In the scriptures of JOHN 8:32, 36, the
English word “MAKE,” in the Greek, is “El-yoo-ther’-o-o,” meaning, “to liberate
and exempt from mortality and mortal liability.” How shameful is our unrealised
unbelief, and how far beneath the cross’ provision we live.
(8) Eternal Life means more than future blessings.
What has begun within the human spirit at regeneration is to be appropriated,
with the power workings of the Holy Spirit (EP 1:17-20; 3:16-19), outwardly into the soul (RO 12:1-2) and body (PH 3:21), in our living lifetimes (HE 11:1; 12:2a kj).
(a) God has intended, since the Cross, that ALL
the scriptures, ALL the promises and prophecies, are to be experientially
fulfilled by every believer in their living lifetime (2 PE 1:3-4; 2 CO
1:20; HE 11:6, 1).
(9) It is only because of the soul REIGNING
SUPREME over the SPIRIT (1 CO 2:14), in the GUISE (self-deception - (1 CO 3:18)) of God, for the entire Church age, that believers have continued to
fail the grace of God’s provision at the Cross, through unbelief, wrong
teaching and through the liars lies (HE 3:12, 17-
19; 4:1-2;
11:13, 13, 39; 2 CO 4:3-4; 2 TI 1:10).
(a) For massive Bible proof of this, there are six
books in four bindings, authored by Daniel Henry Voss.
(10) With the seed of
God’s nature within believing man’s regenerated spirit, with correct teaching
of the Word, correct motivation and intimacy of the soul WITH the spirit, ALL
believers have the God given privilege and capability to ATTAIN the LITERAL
SPIRITUALITY that is EQUAL to Jesus Christ, while alive on this earth (HE 10:7; JN 17:18; 20:21; 1 JN 2:6; 4:17; EP 4:15,
13; 3:19; MT 5:48).
(a) Any
teaching less than this is lies. Let him be anathema (1 CO 16:22 kj).
(11) God never
intended regenerated man to fail the promises (2 PE 1:3-4), for FULFILMENT in another age by UNBELIEF, but He intended them to BE
FULFILLED by believing man IN his or her LIVING LIFETIME, here on the earth.
(a) For approximately two thousand years, God has expected his regenerated man to live and walk within spirit (GA 5:25), with the Spirit (JN 14:26; 16:13; 8:32, 36; 1 JN 2:27).
(12) God has also intended, by the Holy Spirit within man’s spirit, to teach him ALL things (JN 14:26), and that man rid himself (2 CO 7:1) of everything belonging to the old fallen creation, because within man’s regenerated spirit, that has God’s Life, and is PERPETUALLY FILLED, RULED, TAUGHT, LED and OBEYED, are ALL of God’s PROVISION (JN 19:30), and the FULFILMENT of that PROVISION within believing man’s soul and body, while alive.
(a) Shame on us for
our unbelief, our blindness and deception of heart and mind (2 CO 3:14-18; JE 17:9-10; HE 10:40; JN
10:10b).
(b) Any Christian
Apostle, Prophet, or Teacher, and so on, who teaches that there is to be NO
TEMPORAL or SPIRITUAL authority or reality of the promises FULFILLED until
after Jesus Christ comes the second time, is teaching doctrines that have their
ORIGINS from DEMONS (1 TI 4:1).
(1) They
may not be FALSE MINISTRIES, but because of SOUL DOMINANCE over their spirit,
in innocence or ignorance, with blindness of heart and mind, they and those who
follow them, and their teachings, are caught in the trap of perpetual death
until after Jesus comes. God grant you Grace, “TO BE COUNTED WORTHY of
OVERCOMING,” like Jesus did, while alive on the earth. (RE 2:7, 11, 17, 26-27; 3:5, 12, 21) “And to ESCAPE all these things that are
coming to pass” (LU 21:36 kj; MT 24:20; 10:21-22; 24:9-13; JOEL 2:17; ZECH
13:8-9; RE 12:17; 14:12-13; 13:7; 6:9-11; 7:9, 13-14).
No other
generation will have to be as responsible to “do the word” (ja 1:22) as this
generation!”
